Privacy Policy
ISM Security Handbook for iPhone and iPad · Last updated 9 August 2026
The short version. ISM has no accounts, no servers, no analytics and no trackers. The developer receives no personal data from this app — none at all. Everything you write stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage that the developer cannot read.
What the app stores
ISM saves four things, all created by you:
- Bookmarks — which topics you flagged.
- Notes — text you write against a topic.
- Reading history — which topics you have opened, used for the progress rings.
- Recent searches — the last eight terms you searched for.
Where it is stored
Bookmarks, notes and reading history are held in the app's local database. If you are signed in to iCloud, iOS mirrors that database to your own private iCloud storage so it appears on your other devices. That storage belongs to your Apple Account. The developer has no access to it and no technical means of obtaining access.
Recent searches are stored only in local app settings on the device. They are never synced and never leave the device.
If you sign out of iCloud, the app keeps working with the data already on the device.
The knowledge base itself
All 478 topics, the glossary and every link between them ship inside the app. Reading ISM requires no network connection, and nothing about what you read is transmitted anywhere.
Purchases
Part 1 is free. The other parts are one-time purchases handled entirely by Apple's App Store. The app never sees your payment details, your name or your Apple Account identifier. It asks the system a single question — whether a given part has been purchased — and stores no purchase record of its own. Apple's handling of the transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
What the app does not do
- No account, sign-in or registration.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising.
- No third-party SDKs of any kind.
- No tracking, no advertising identifier, no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No access to your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data.
- No sale or sharing of personal information, because none is received.
Your rights over your data
Because the developer holds none of your data, requests to access, correct, export or delete it have nothing to act on at this end — and you do not need to ask anyone. You are in direct control:
- Delete a note or bookmark in the app.
- Clear reading history with Reset progress in About.
- Clear recent searches with Clear recent searches on the Search screen.
- Delete everything by deleting the app; to remove the synced copy as well, use
Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Children
ISM is a professional reference rated 4+. It collects no data from anyone, including children, and contains no shared user-generated content, no messaging and no advertising.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
